A Windsor Terrace Kitchen, Reworked
Honey oak, a fluorescent fixture and a floor that had seen thirty winters — reworked into an island kitchen without moving a wall.

BeforeAfter- The job
- A 1980s kitchen in a house used hard by a family of five: raised-panel oak doors, a laminate countertop worn through at the sink, mosaic backsplash tile, and one fluorescent fixture that made the whole room read yellow at any hour.
- What we did
- New shaker millwork in a deep green, a stone-look countertop and full-height backsplash, a new island with seating on the dining side, engineered oak flooring through the kitchen and meals area, undercabinet lighting and pendants over the island. The existing oven, window and doorway all stayed where they were.
- Timeline
- Ten weeks on site, as part of a wider whole-house project
- The result
- The family's own table and chairs went straight back where they had always been — and the room around them stopped looking like the 1980s. The kitchen was one part of a fixed-price project that also covered the primary bathroom, a bedroom conversion, structural repairs and the original floors.
